The act of providing prasada (sanctified food) to devotees and visitors is considered highly auspicious in Vaishnavism. It is believed that those who sponsor such offerings receive abundant spiritual blessings and the mercy of Lord Krishna. This charitable act helps cleanse the heart and mind, fostering a deeper spiritual connection and advancing one’s progress on the path of bhakti (devotion).
Community Building:
The Sunday feast is a cornerstone event that brings together devotees from various walks of life, fostering a sense of unity and togetherness. It is an opportunity for individuals and families to come together in a spirit of service and celebration, sharing a meal prepared with love and devotion. By sponsoring this event, you help create a welcoming and inclusive environment where people can experience the warmth and hospitality of our temple community. This act of giving not only supports the immediate needs of the temple but also strengthens the bonds between community members, encouraging mutual support and cooperation.

There is immense personal satisfaction in knowing that your contribution is making a tangible difference in the lives of others. Sponsoring a Sunday feast allows you to play a vital role in a cherished tradition that has been nourishing hearts and minds for generations. The joy and gratitude expressed by those who partake in the feast are immeasurable, and the knowledge that you have helped facilitate this experience can bring a deep sense of fulfillment and purpose. Additionally, sponsors are often honored during the feast, providing a unique opportunity to be recognized for your generosity and commitment to the temple’s mission.
Preserving Tradition:
The Sunday ‘Love Feasts’ go back to the very beginning of Srila Prabhupada’s ISKCON period, which began in the mid-1960’s. He introduced this weekly festival as part of his overall preaching program.
The Founder Acarya of the Hare Krishna Movement, Srila Prabhupada started the “Sunday Love Feast” in 1966. He would personally invite guests, and cook the entire meal. He would serve the devotees a variety of tasty Indian vegetarian prasad preparations. Along with the vegetarian prasad feast, Srila Prabhupada would sing the Hare Krishna Maha-mantra with the guests, dance and give a lecture on Bhagavad-gita.
Conclusion:
Sponsoring a Sunday feast at the Sri Sri Krsna Balaram Mandir is a deeply rewarding experience that extends far beyond the act of giving. It is an opportunity to enhance your spiritual journey, strengthen community bonds, achieve personal fulfillment, and preserve a valuable tradition. We invite you to join us in this noble endeavor and become a vital part of our temple’s ongoing mission to spread love, devotion, and compassion.
